The Management of UNICAL has made enforcement on the ban on indecent dressing for both staff and students.
As announced by Prof. Patrick Egaga, the director of SERVICOM, who released a statement on Friday expressing concern over the increasing occurrence of unofficial and provocative attire and unofficial attire worn by members of the institution.
The specific targets of the ban are short skirts or gowns above the knee, crop tops, open backs, handless gowns, braless tops and gowns, spaghetti straps, sleeveless tops, bikinis, bum shorts, see-through, transparent apparel, revealing contours, slit skirts.
Body-hugging clothes, V-necks exposing breasts, tubes, strapless outfits, lingeries, shorts above the knee, sleeveless shirts, singlets, sagged trousers, and more are also included.
The ban’s enforcement starts on Tuesday, May 2, 2025, and a combined security and administrative task force will monitor the enforcement.
As part of the new policy, a face sanction will be imposed on any student or staff member dressed inappropriately, and they will be denied access to university facilities.
Female students and staff are advised to imitate the dressing sense of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi, the vice chancellor, and her deputies.
In contrast, male staff and students should follow the dressing pattern of the Gen. Martin Luther-Agwai (retd.), the university’s council chairman, and Mr. Gabriel Egbe, the Registrar.
