This is to inform the general public and all Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) aspirants that the Department of Education & Biology admission requirements has been published.
The requirements cover the O Level credits, the four JAMB papers, the Direct Entry conditions and the minimum UTME score. Chemistry is a compulsory credit but only an option on the JAMB form.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education & Biology include Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- English Language
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Mathematics and one (1) other subject
Four credits are named and the fifth carries no stated restriction, so it may come from any group of subjects rather than the sciences alone.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Biology and two (2) other subjects from Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.
On the JAMB form Biology joins the compulsory English Language, and two papers come from Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.
Physics appears there for the first time while Chemistry drops to one option among three, so the two lists have to be satisfied separately.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Biology if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- NCE/’A’ Level passes in Biology and one (1) other Science subject
Direct Entry asks for Biology plus one further science subject, with an NCE accepted on the same terms as A Level passes.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into YABATECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 150 or above in your JAMB result.

The Chemistry Credit YABATECH Education and Biology Still Checks
Biology is required on every route, and English Language, Chemistry and Mathematics complete the named credits. Only the fifth credit is left to the candidate.
On the JAMB form Chemistry becomes one of three options, so check the credit list rather than the form. Then make sure your score reaches 150 for the 2026/2027 session.
