This is to inform the general public and all Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) aspirants that the Department of Education & Mathematics admission requirements has been published.
The requirements cover the O Level credits, the four JAMB papers and the minimum UTME score. The credit line is short while the JAMB combination is completely fixed, which is an unusual pairing.

O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education & Mathematics include the following:
- Five SSCE credit passes, including Mathematics, English Language
Only Mathematics and English Language are named at this stage. The other three credits carry no stated restriction, so they may come from any group of subjects.
That makes the credit requirement far more accessible than most science based teaching programmes, provided Mathematics sits at credit level.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
The JAMB form tells a different story. All four papers are named, with Physics and Chemistry joining English Language and Mathematics, and no substitution offered.
A candidate who filled the three open credits with Arts subjects still has to sit Physics and Chemistry in JAMB, which is a real step up in preparation.
Neither of those two is required on your result, so this is one of the few courses where the form is stricter than the credit list.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into YABATECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 150 or above in your JAMB result.

Short Credit List, Fixed JAMB Papers at YABATECH Education and Mathematics
Mathematics and English Language are the only named credits, which leaves three places open and makes the O Level requirement unusually easy to satisfy.
The JAMB combination is the harder part, since Physics and Chemistry are compulsory papers even though neither is a required credit. Prepare for those two, then make sure your score reaches 150 for the 2026/2027 session.
