This is to inform the general public and all Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) aspirants that the Department of Science Laboratory Technology admission requirements has been published.
The requirements cover the O Level credits, the four JAMB papers and the minimum UTME score. Chemistry is compulsory as a credit but absent from the JAMB list entirely.

O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Laboratory Technology include Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Biology/Agricultural Science/Health Science
- Chemistry and any two other subjects from below:
- Technical Drawing
- Metal or Wood Work
- Basic Electricity
- Geography
- Further Mathematics
- Fine Art
Four subjects are named at the top, with Biology, Agricultural Science and Health Science counting as one between them. Two more credits come from the technical group below.
That brings the list to six subjects for five places, so read the named four as the core and treat the technical group as the overflow.
Metal or Wood Work, Basic Electricity and Technical Drawing all count there, which suits candidates from technical colleges.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language and any three subjects from below:
- Mathematics
- Biology
- Agricultural Science
- Physics
The JAMB combination names only four subjects. English Language is compulsory and three papers come from Mathematics, Biology, Agricultural Science and Physics.
Chemistry does not appear there at all despite being a required credit, so the form gives no indication that it is needed.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into YABATECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 150 or above in your JAMB result.

The Chemistry Credit Absent From the YABATECH Science Laboratory JAMB List
Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and a biological subject head the credit list, with two further places open to technical papers such as Basic Electricity or Metal Work.
Chemistry is the one to check carefully, since it is required on your result but never registered in JAMB. Confirm it, then make sure your score reaches 150 for the 2026/2027 session.
