Entry Requirements

O’Level Subject Combination

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Industrial Education Technology include the following:

  • Five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include Physics or Mathematics.

This is as short as an O Level line gets. Five credits are needed and only one subject is specified, and even that allows a choice between Physics and Mathematics.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Physics and one (1) other Science subject.

The JAMB form is where the real subject demand sits. English Language and Mathematics are compulsory, Physics is fixed, and a second science subject completes the four papers.

Physics therefore becomes unavoidable at registration even though the credit line treats it as optional.

Direct Entry Requirement

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Industrial Education Technology if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;

  • Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Physics and Mathematics.
  • ND lower credit in Civil Engineering, Production/Electrical Engineering.
  • Final City and Guilds or its equivalent plus National Technical Certificate.
  • NCE credit in Technical Education plus ‘O’ Level credit passes in Physics or Mathematics.

The Direct Entry list is built around trade and teaching qualifications. A City and Guilds Final with a National Technical Certificate, an NCE credit in Technical Education, or an ND at lower credit in engineering all qualify.

Only the first route uses A Levels, requiring passes in both Physics and Mathematics rather than a choice between them.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into YABATECH  for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 150 or above in your JAMB result.

Four Routes Into YABATECH Industrial Education Technology

The credit line names only Physics or Mathematics, while the JAMB combination requires English Language, Mathematics, Physics and another science. Plan around the fuller list.

Direct Entry suits candidates already holding a technical qualification, since a City and Guilds Final, a National Technical Certificate, an NCE in Technical Education or an engineering ND all count. Otherwise clear 150 in JAMB for the 2026/2027 session.
