This is to inform the general public and all students of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) about the status of the academic calendar for the 2026/2027 academic session.
As of this update, FUTO has not yet released its academic calendar for the 2026/2027 session. The university’s own academic affairs portal still shows the Harmattan and Rain Semester calendar for the previous 2025/2026 session, with no 2026/2027 document posted yet.
A number of third-party school information sites are already circulating specific 2026/2027 dates for FUTO. We checked those claims against FUTO’s own resources portal and could not find a matching document, so we are not publishing those dates here. We would rather tell you plainly that the calendar is not out yet than hand you figures that might be wrong.
What FUTO’s 2025/2026 Calendar Looked Like
For context, here is how the most recently confirmed session was structured. This is background information from the 2025/2026 session, not a prediction for 2026/2027, but it gives you a sense of FUTO’s usual rhythm.
- Harmattan Semester: new students arrived in early November, lectures ran into late February, and Harmattan exams closed out in late March.
- Rain Semester: lectures ran from April through July, followed by exams in August and a break into the new session.
FUTO typically publishes its calendar as a PDF or notice on the academic affairs section of its website once Senate approves it. Students should watch the university’s official channels rather than relying on sites that simply swap the year on an old template.
