The Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) has released the entry requirements for its Department of Education & Chemistry, setting out the O’Level credits, the JAMB UTME subject combination and the Direct Entry route into the programme.

Chemistry is the subject that holds all three routes together. It is a named O’Level credit, a compulsory UTME subject beside Use of English, and the first of the two passes a Direct Entry candidate has to present at A Level or NCE.
One difference is worth noting early. Agricultural Science counts towards the O’Level requirement but does not appear among the JAMB options, so it cannot stand in for Physics, Biology or Mathematics in the UTME.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education & Chemistry include the following;
- Five (5) SSCE credits in Mathematics, Chemistry, and English Language and two (2) in Physics, Biology, and Agricultural Science.
Three of the five credits are fixed and the remaining two come from a short list of three. Mathematics, Chemistry and English Language leave no room for substitution, so those three are the ones to secure first.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Chemistry and two (2) other subjects are chosen from Physics, Biology, and Mathematics.
Mathematics sits in both lists, which makes it the safest of the three optional UTME choices for anyone who already holds it as a required O’Level credit. Picking it keeps your UTME and O’Level preparation on the same subjects.

Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Chemistry if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes, including Chemistry and one (1) other Science subject.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUTMINNA for the 2026/2027 session should know that you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result to be eligible for the screening.

Agricultural Science Counts at O’Level but Not in JAMB for FUTMINNA Education and Chemistry
The two lists for this programme are not interchangeable. Agricultural Science can supply one of your two flexible O’Level credits, yet the UTME combination recognises only Physics, Biology and Mathematics beside Chemistry and Use of English.
Direct Entry candidates face a shorter list, needing two A Level or NCE passes with Chemistry among them. Whichever route you use, a JAMB score of 180 or above is what qualifies you for the FUTMINNA screening.
