Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, was officially renamed Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic on 7 November 2024, in honour of the state’s first executive governor, though most students and staff still call it Abia Poly or ABIAPOLY.
The school hasn’t published a dated 2026/2027 fee schedule we could verify, so this page lays out what is confirmed about the structure and flags where figures online disagree.
How Much Is ABIAPOLY School Fees?
ABIAPOLY, now Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, runs ND and HND programmes across schools including Business and Management Technology, Engineering Technology, Environmental Design and Technology, Science and Engineering Technology, and Food Science Technology.
Courses include Accountancy, Banking and Finance, Mass Communication, Marketing, Business Administration, Estate Management and various engineering and science disciplines.
The school does not run Medicine, Optometry or Nursing programmes, so a fee list quoting those courses for ABIAPOLY is a mix-up with a different institution.
Figures circulating online for ND/HND tuition range widely, from roughly ₦55,000 to ₦85,000 per session on one estimate to over ₦190,000 on another, which is too big a spread to responsibly repeat as the current figure. Check your admission letter or the official portal at portal.abiastatepolytechnic.edu.ng for the amount that applies to your course and level.
How Much Is ABIAPOLY Acceptance Fee?
The acceptance fee has been reported as somewhere between ₦20,000 and ₦28,000 for recent sessions, alongside a separate online application form fee of roughly ₦9,000 for ND and ₦5,000 for HND.
These are not confirmed for 2026/2027, so treat them as a rough guide rather than the exact figure, and pay only the amount shown on your own portal invoice.
How Much Is ABIAPOLY Hostel Fee?
Students who want to stay in hostel accommodation made available by the school authorities need to apply through student affairs once admission and acceptance fees are settled. ABIAPOLY hasn’t published a hostel fee figure for 2026/2027, so check with the school directly before budgeting around it.

Searching Under the Old Abia Poly Name After the Renaming
The renaming on 7 November 2024 is the first thing to account for. Official notices now carry Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, while students, staff and most search results still use Abia Poly or ABIAPOLY.
That split is part of why the figures online disagree so sharply. A range running from ₦55,000 to over ₦190,000 for the same ND programme cannot all be describing the current schedule.
One quick test helps. If a fee list for this polytechnic includes Medicine, Optometry or Nursing, it belongs to another institution, because none of those programmes is offered here.
Take your own figure from portal.abiastatepolytechnic.edu.ng or your admission letter. The application form fee is separate from the acceptance fee, and both sit outside whatever the session charge turns out to be.
We’ll update this page with verified figures once ABIAPOLY publishes a dated 2026/2027 fee circular.
