Here’s exactly how Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti (FEDPOLYADO) calculates its aggregate score, with a correctly worked example.
FEDPOLYADO was originally established in Jos, Plateau State, in January 1977, then relocated by the Federal Government to Ado-Ekiti (then under Ondo State) in 1978 to spread federal institutions more evenly across the country.
How to Calculate FEDPOLYADO Aggregate Score
Unlike the generic JAMB/8 + Post-UTME/2 formula used by many institutions, FEDPOLYADO doesn’t run a written Post-UTME exam in that format. Instead, it weighs your UTME score at 60% and your O’Level results at 40%:
1. UTME Point (worth 60%)
Multiply your UTME score by 15, then divide by 100. (This scales a 400-mark UTME score down to a maximum of 60 points.)
2. O’Level Screening Point (worth 40%)
Pick the five O’Level subjects relevant to your course and convert each grade to points: A1 = 6, B2 = 5, B3 = 4, C4 = 3, C5 = 2, C6 = 1, D7 and below = 0. Add up your five subjects’ points, then add a sitting bonus: 10 marks if all five credits came from a single sitting, or 6 marks if they came from two sittings.
3. Final Aggregate
Add your UTME point and your O’Level screening point together.
Worked Example
Say a candidate scored 240 in UTME, with O’Level grades of A1 in English (6), B2 in Mathematics (5), B2 in Physics (5), C4 in Chemistry (3), and B3 in Biology (4), all from a single sitting:
UTME point: 240 × 15 ÷ 100 = 36
O’Level points: 6 + 5 + 5 + 3 + 4 = 23, plus the single-sitting bonus of 10 = 33
Aggregate: 36 + 33 = 69
That candidate’s aggregate score would be 69 out of a possible 100.
