Confirm that Drama and Performing Arts is still listed at LASU before you register for JAMB. The waiver defines what the general JAMB line means by relevant subjects.
Lagos State University, also known as LASU, was established in 1983 by the enabling Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, for the advancement of learning and establishment of academic excellence.
The university caters to a population of over 35,000 students enrolled full-time. The university also offers courses at Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate levels.
Lagos State University is located in Ojo, a town in Lagos State, Nigeria. LASU is the only state university in the former British colony. Lagos State University offers diploma, degree, and postgraduate programs, including an MBA program.
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Drama / Dramatic / Performing Arts;
You require;
Five (5) SSCE credit passes to include English Language and Arts subjects.
English Language is the only subject named, and the remaining credits must come from the Arts. A result built mainly on sciences will not satisfy this line.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Drama / Dramatic / Performing Arts under the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at LASU include;
Literature in English and two (2) other relevant subjects
On the JAMB form Literature in English joins the compulsory English Language, and the phrase relevant subjects covers the last two papers.
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
- LASU requires another Arts subject plus any Arts or Social Science subject.
The waiver settles that phrase. One further paper must be an Arts subject and the other may be Arts or Social Science, so science papers are excluded at this stage.
Literature in English is therefore compulsory alongside at least one more Arts subject, which is a narrower requirement than the general wording suggests.

Direct Entry Requirement

Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Arts, Social Sciences, or Science subjects.

What Relevant Subjects Means at LASU Drama and Performing Arts
English Language is compulsory at O Level and in JAMB, and Literature in English is added on the form. The waiver then restricts the other two papers to the Arts and Social Sciences.
Direct Entry is the exception, since it accepts science subjects that neither earlier stage allows. Decide which route fits your subjects and clear 160 in JAMB for the 2026/2027 session.
