Lagos State University, also known as LASU, was established in 1983 by the enabling Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, for the advancement of learning and establishment of academic excellence.
The university caters to a population of over 35,000 students enrolled full-time. The university also offers courses at Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate levels. Lagos State University is located in Ojo, a town in Lagos State, Nigeria.
LASU is the only state university in the former British colony. Lagos State University offers diploma, degree, and postgraduate programs, including an MBA program.
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Geography; You require;
Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Geography, English Language, and Mathematics.
Three credits are named and two are left open. Mathematics is required at credit level here rather than as an ordinary pass, which is stricter than some geography programmes.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Education and Geography under the Faculty of Education at LASU include;
Geography plus two (2) other Social Sciences/Arts subjects.
On the JAMB form Geography joins the compulsory English Language, and the two remaining papers come from the Social Sciences or the Arts.

Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Geography if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes/NCE merit which should include Geography /Physics.
Direct Entry introduces Physics as an alternative to Geography, which appears nowhere else in the post. An NCE at merit is accepted alongside A Level passes.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into LASU for the 2026/2027 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 160 or above in your JAMB result.
Geography Everywhere, Physics Only at LASU Direct Entry
Geography, English Language and Mathematics are the three named credits, and Geography carries through to the JAMB form and the waiver as well.
The waiver narrows the JAMB options to Geography, Government and Economics, while Direct Entry allows Physics in place of Geography. Register on the right basis and clear 160 in JAMB for the 2026/2027 session.
