Confirm that Education and History is still listed at LASU before you register for JAMB. The waiver adds a Mathematics credit and allows Government in place of History.
Lagos State University, also known as LASU, was established in 1983 by the enabling Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, for the advancement of learning and establishment of academic excellence.
The university caters to a population of over 35,000 students enrolled full-time. The university also offers courses at Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate levels. Lagos State University is located in Ojo, a town in Lagos State, Nigeria.
LASU is the only state university in the former British colony. Lagos State University offers diploma, degree, and postgraduate programs, including an MBA program.
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and History; You require;
Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, History, and three (3) relevant Arts subjects.
The general line names English Language and History and restricts the remaining three credits to Arts subjects, so a science heavy result will not satisfy it.
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
LASU requires an ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics, and Government or History is compulsory.
The waiver does two things at once. It makes Mathematics a compulsory credit, and it allows Government to stand in for History.
That second point matters for candidates who sat Government rather than History, since the general line names History alone.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Education and History under the Faculty of Education at LASU include;
History and any other two (2) subjects chosen from Christian Religious Studies / Islamic Studies, Literature in English, French, Yoruba, Geography/Physics, Economics, Government, and Hausa.
The JAMB list is broad, offering eight options for the two papers beside History and the compulsory English Language, including Physics and the Nigerian languages.

Mathematics is the addition most likely to be missed, since only the waiver mentions it. Check it on your result, then clear 160 in JAMB for the 2026/2027 session.
