Confirm that Economics is still listed at the Nigeria Defence Academy before you register for JAMB. Economics and Mathematics anchor the O Level and UTME lists, while the Direct Entry list opens up to science and commercial subjects as well.
The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna is one of the first of two Military Universities in Nigeria. Nigerian Army University, established in 2018 in Biu, Borno State, is the other military university though it does not offer military training.

O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Economics; You require;
Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any two of the Arts or Social Science subjects.
Three credits are named and the last two must come from the Arts or Social Sciences. A science subject will not count towards those final two places even at credit level.
Jamb Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Economics under the Faculty of Social & Management Sciences at NDA include;
Economics, Mathematics, and any of Government, History, Geography, Lit-in-English, French, and CRK/IRK.
The UTME list names the third paper explicitly instead of describing a group. Government, History, Geography, Literature in English, French and the Christian or Islamic Religious Knowledge papers are all accepted.
Economics and Mathematics take the other two places beside the compulsory English Language, so both must be sat in JAMB.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Economics if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two ‘A’ level passes in Economics and any one of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agric Science, Accounting, Business Management, History and Government.
This is by far the widest list in the post. Physics, Chemistry and Agricultural Science appear here even though no science subject is accepted among the O Level credits or the UTME papers.
Economics itself stays compulsory. Only the partner subject changes, which keeps Direct Entry open to science and commercial students alike.
Jamb Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into NDA for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result.
How NDA Economics Widens Its Subject List at Direct Entry
Economics is required at every stage and Mathematics at the first two. Together they account for most of what this department asks of a candidate before the optional subjects are considered.
The routes differ in how much they allow beside that core. O Level and UTME stay inside the Arts and Social Sciences, while Direct Entry accepts Physics, Chemistry, Agric Science and several commercial subjects. Clear 180 in JAMB for the 2026/2027 session.
