This article is to inform the general public and the students who participated in the recent NECO GCE examination that the statistics have been announced.

The statistics were announced by the Registrar/ Chief Executive of NECO, Prof Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi.

The statistics were released alongside the 2025 NECO GCE examination results. The National Examination Council (NECO) announced that the released result is for the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for external candidates.

This announcement was made at the Council Headquarters in Minna. The Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, confirmed that the results were released just after sixty-four (64) days after the last paper was written.

The National Council Examination recorded 29,342 credits in mathematics and English for the 2025 exam year.

According to the Registrar/Chief Executive Prof. Dantani, he claimed that the total number of candidates that registered for the NECO GCE examination was 47,916.

Candidates who sat for the English Language were about 45,821. About 78.82% of this number, about 36,116, made credit and above.

Then, 45,756 candidates sat for Mathematics, of which 78.04%, about 35,706 candidates, made credit and above.

“The number of candidates who got five (5) Credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics, is 29,342, representing 62.59%.”

“On the other hand, 37,991 candidates, representing 81.04%, got five (5) Credits and above, irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.”

“The Number of Candidates booked for various forms of malpractice in 2021 is 4,454, as against 6,465 in 2025, which shows a significant decline in the number of malpractice cases.”

Candidates who could not access this information are now aware of it. Therefore, they can now access their results on the NECO website, www.neco.gov.ng, using their examination registration numbers.
