NMU School Fees and Registration Deadline

If you pay your school fees after the registration deadline posted on your portal, it may not be considered valid, and you could go through extra filing processes to get it sorted.

The penalty for defaulting is a loss of studentship for the 2026/2027 Academic Session.

Also, note that a lost session forms part of the total duration allowed for the programme.

A student with a genuine reason to apply for Temporary Withdrawal from studies for the session must follow due process before the end of the first semester.

How Much is NMU School Fees?

NMU released its “Schedule of Students’ Charges for 2026/2027 Session” directly on its official website, and fees have gone up considerably from the previous session, so don’t rely on older figures you may have seen elsewhere.

The NMU school fees are the same across the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Environmental Management (including Marine Geology), Faculty of Science, and Faculty of Transport, except for a small variation at 300 and above:

Level Engineering / Environmental Management Science / Transport / Marine Geology
100 Level ₦213,200.00 ₦213,200.00
200 Level ₦158,200.00 ₦158,200.00
300 Level ₦158,200.00 ₦168,200.00
400 Level ₦168,200.00 ₦188,200.00
500 Level ₦188,200.00 N/A

The charges above are inclusive totals, not add-ons. Separately, NMU requires these fixed charges from every student:

  • NHIS: ₦10,000.00 (paid into the university’s Remita account)
  • Medical Screening: ₦20,000.00
  • Students’ Welfare Insurance Scheme: ₦5,000.00
  • Students’ uniforms and life vests are billed separately through the Consultancy Unit, not through Remita.

How Much is NMU Acceptance Fee?

The Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko (NMU) now charges ₦70,000 for its acceptance fee, payable by fresh (100 Level) students into the university’s Remita account. This is a sharp rise from the ₦10,000 charged in earlier sessions, so budget for it accordingly.

New intakes must pay their acceptance fee to be considered students.

How Much is NMU Hostel Fee?

Students who want to stay in the hostel accommodations made available by the school authorities would have to apply before time.

NMU hostel accommodation is ₦80,000 for the new hostel and ₦60,000 for the old hostel per session, both paid directly into the university’s Remita account.

These figures come straight from NMU’s official fees schedule published on nmu.edu.ng. Since charges jumped significantly this session, it’s worth double-checking your personalised invoice on the student portal before making payment.

Totaling Your NMU Fresher Cost at the New Rates

A 100 Level fresher now faces N213,200 in tuition-equivalent charges, the N70,000 acceptance fee, the N10,000 NHIS fee, the N20,000 medical screening fee, and the N5,000 welfare insurance fee, which together add up to roughly N318,200 before hostel accommodation and separately billed uniforms or life vests.

Add N80,000 for the new hostel or N60,000 for the old hostel if you need accommodation on campus. Given how sharply these charges have risen from previous sessions, confirm your personalised invoice on the student portal rather than budgeting from an older figure you may have seen elsewhere.
