Admission Requirements for OAU Postgraduate Program
Postgraduate Diploma Programmes
Applicants should have the following to be eligible for the postgraduate diploma programs:
- A minimum of 3rd Class Degree in any undergraduate program from the OAU.
- A minimum of 2nd Class (Lower Division) in any undergraduate program from any other accredited university.
Master Degree Programmes
For the various Master’s degree programs, applicants should have a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) Honours Degree from OAU or any other accredited University.
Master of Philosophy Degree Programmes
Applicants for the Master of Philosophy degree programs should have an Undergraduate degree with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) and, at the Master’s level, a weighted average of between 50 – 59% (C) at Masters level.
Alternatively, applicants should have a Master’s Degree with a long Essay and a weighted coursework average not less than 60% (B).
Doctor of Philosophy Degree Programmes
Applicants for OAU PhD degree programs should:
- Possess a Master’s degree with a weighted coursework average not less than 60% (B) and a research thesis from OAU or any other accredited university.
Applicants should note that they must satisfy the ‘O’ Level requirements for matriculation into undergraduate programs of OAU (that is, Five credit passes in relevant subjects in no more than two sittings, including English Language and Mathematics [where required]).
How to Apply for OAU Postgraduate Programs
Interested individuals can apply online by following the steps:
- Visit the OAU admissions portal.
- Create an online account. An email with a system-generated password will be sent to you.
- Log in with your email address and the password sent to you.
- Accurately fill out the application form.
- Click “Remita” to pay the application processing fee.
- Subsequently, applicants should submit duplicate copies of the following documents in support of their applications to their Department of choice and the Postgraduate College:
- A research proposal of not more than 5 pages (Ph.D) or not more than 3 pages (Master’s Degree)
- Birth Certificate/Declaration of Age
- Photocopy of ‘O’ Level Certificate (WAEC/NECO)
- Photocopy of NYSC Discharge Certificate
- Photocopy of University Degree Certificate
- Marriage Certificate (Where applicable)
- Original transcript from the applicant’s University plus duly completed downloaded Obafemi Awolowo University Postgraduate College Transcript Label
Application Fee
The application processing fee for all programs costs Fifteen Thousand Naira only, while all professional programs cost Twenty Thousand Naira Only.
Application Deadline
The deadline for the close of application is set for September 8th, 2024/2025.
Note that applicants who do not submit their transcripts will not be considered or whose original transcript does not reach the Postgraduate College before the deadline will not be granted admission.
Successful applicants will receive their letters of admission via the email addresses they fill in their forms.
