Business Administration and Management is offered under the Faculty of Administration at Federal Polytechnic, Oko (OKOPOLY). This page covers the O’Level subject combination, the UTME subjects, the Direct Entry condition and the JAMB score required.
English Language and Mathematics are the two fixed O’Level credits. The three further subjects come from a long commercial and general list, and the UTME combination is built around Mathematics.

The polytechnic is situated within Oko town in Orumba North Local Government of Anambra State.
The kernel of what eventually became the polytechnic was the brainchild of the Oko Progressive Union (OPU), greatly catalysed by the patronage, resourcefulness and result-oriented leadership of its pioneer chairman, a former Executive Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ekwueme.
The institution is strategically located and surrounded by several centres of industries, commerce and diverse local crafts such as Awka (well known for blacksmith/iron works), Nnewi (Industry and technological products) and Onitsha and Aba (reputed for Commerce and Industries).

Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Business Administration and Management, if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require
Federal Polytechnic, Oko requires five credit passes obtained in not more than two sittings, and Economics or Commerce must be among them.
The two sittings limit is worth planning around. A candidate who needs a third sitting to complete the five credits will not meet the condition, even with the right combination of subjects.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into Federal Polytechnic, Oko for the 2026/2027 session, should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 100 or above in your JAMB result.
About Federal Polytechnic, Oko
The climatic condition of the host community, Oko, ranges between 28 and 42 degrees centigrade. It is one of the fastest developing tertiary institutions in Nigeria with high futuristic disposition.
It has functional memorandum of understanding with different universities within and outside the country. The Polytechnic has three campuses.
- The main campus at Oko which occupies a total land area of 89 hectares.
- Ufuma campus: This occupies a total land area of 52 hectares.
- Atani campus: This occupies a total area of 40 hectares.
Economics or Commerce Is the Deciding Credit at OKOPOLY
The Direct Entry condition names Economics or Commerce specifically, and both also appear among the three optional O’Level subjects. A candidate holding neither is working against the grain of this programme.
For UTME, English Language is compulsory, Mathematics is required, and two more come from Geography, Commerce, Government, Principles of Accounts and Economics. The O’Level list is wider, running through Office Practice, Typewriting and Shorthand.
A JAMB score of 100 or above makes a candidate eligible for screening at Oko. That is a low threshold nationally, so check the departmental cut-off published for the session before treating a place as likely.
