OKOPOLY Department of Quantity Surveying Admission Requirement 2024/2025

This article is designed to help students who wish to study Quantity Surveying   Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology Federal Polytechnic, Oko (OKOPOLY).

OKOPOLY

It is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any courses offered in OKOPOLY to carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.

The polytechnic is situated within Oko town in Orumba North Local Government of Anambra State.

The kernel of what eventually became the polytechnic was the brainchild of the Oko Progressive Union (OPU), greatly catalysed by the patronage, resourcefulness and result-oriented leadership of its pioneer chairman, a former Executive Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ekwueme.

The institution is strategically located and surrounded by several centres of industries, commerce and diverse local crafts such as Awka (well known for blacksmith/iron works), Nnewi (Industry and technological products) and Onitsha and Aba (reputed for Commerce and Industries).

The climatic condition of the host community ranges between 28 and 42 degrees centigrade.

It is one of Nigeria’s fastest-developing tertiary institutions with a highly futuristic disposition. It has a functional memorandum of understanding with universities within and outside the country. The Polytechnic has three campuses.

  • The main campus at Oko occupies a total land area of 89 hectares.
  • Ufuma campus: This occupies a total land area of 52 hectares.
  • Atani campus: This occupies a total area of 40 hectares.

   To study Quantity Surveying, candidates must meet the following requirements.

O’Level Subject Combination

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Quantity Surveying;

You require;

  • Mathematics and Physics and any three of the following: Economics/Commerce,
  • Technical Drawing/Fine Arts,
  • Chemistry,
  • Geography,
  • Further Mathematics Woodwork,
  • Biology,
  • Religious Knowledge,
  • Metal Work,
  • And at least a credit pass in English Language is Compulsory.
  • A pass in Art or Technical Drawing will be an advantage.

Jamb Subject Combination

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Quantity Surveying under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology in the above Universities include;

Any three of Physics, Mathematics, Geography, Economics, Biology/Agric. Science

Direct Entry Requirement

These are the conditions you must fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Quantity Surveying if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require

Yabatech

Requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics or Geography and anyone from Technical Drawing, Biology/Agricultural Science, Further Mathematics and Building Construction as UTME subjects.

Ibadanpoly

Accepts Biology/Agricultural Science but does not accept Commerce as part of s course requirement.

Okopoly and Mapoly

Accept City & Guilds/WAEC Technical Certificate (Ordinary/Advanced).

Auchipoly

Requires credits in six subjects at not more than two sittings or five credits at one sitting.

Giwapoly

Requires credit in Physics/Chemistry/ Gen. Sci.

Offapoly

Does not accept Bio/Agric Science.

OSUNTECHCOLLEGE is the same as in Building Technology.

Fideipoly and Kadpoly

Require a pass in English Language and credit passes in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry and two others from Economics, T/Drawing/Art, Chemistry, Geography, Woodwork, Biology, Building Construction or Religious Knowledge as a course requirement. It requires Mathematics, Physics and anyone from Economics, Geography or Chemistry as UTME subjects.

OZORO Same as Agric Engineering.

Bidapoly

Requires Physics/Chemistry, Mathematics and English Language.

Plapoly

Requires O/L credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and anyone from chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Geography, Economics, and Tech. Drawing.

Kwapoly

Accepts Credit Passes in Biology/Agric. Sc., Building Construction, Brick Laying/Block Laying, Concreting, Walls/Floor, Ceiling Finishing, Joinery, Carpentry, Gas/Steam Work and Bronze Welding, Cold and Hot Water Supply, Sanitation and Drainage.

Rugipo

Requires a pass in the English Language.

Edeploy

Does not accept Further maths, wood Work, Religious Knowledge, Metalwork, Biology, Economics/ commerce and Fine Art.

Akanupoly

requires five credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry and any two of the following: Economics, Geography, Biology, technical drawing and Agricultural Science.

Ilaropoly

Requires any three of Physics, Mathematics, Geography, Economics, Biology/Agric. Science as UTME subjects.

Bauchipoly

Requires Physics Mathematics, and one of Chemistry, Geography, Economics and Biology as UTME subjects. It requires credit passes Physics and mathematics and two of the following: Further mathematics, Fine Art, Technical drawing, geography, Economics, Biology and Agricultural Science.

Mapoly

Requires four credits at one sitting or five credits at not more than two sittings to include Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry with at least a pass in the English Language. Other subjects from Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Geography, Economics, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing/ Engineering Drawing and Further Mathematics.

TOPS POLY accepts credit passes in Chemistry or Physics.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted into Federal Polytechnic, Oko for the 2019/2020 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 100 or above in your JAMB result.
