This is to inform the general public and all University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) aspirants that the Department of Education & Chemistry admission requirements have been published.
The requirements cover the O Level credits, the four JAMB papers, the Direct Entry conditions and the minimum UTME score. Chemistry is fixed throughout, while the science subjects allowed beside it change from one list to the next.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education & Chemistry include Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
- English Language and two (2) of Physics, Biology, and Agricultural Science.
Mathematics, Chemistry and English Language are compulsory credits. The final two come from Physics, Biology and Agricultural Science, so one of those three has to be left out.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Chemistry and two (2) other subjects are chosen from Physics, Biology, and Mathematics.
The JAMB list swaps Agricultural Science for Mathematics. Chemistry stays compulsory beside English Language, and the other two papers come from Physics, Biology and Mathematics.
A candidate who relied on Agricultural Science as an O Level science will find it has no place on the JAMB form for this course.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Chemistry if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes, including Chemistry and one (1) other Science subject.
Direct Entry asks only for Chemistry plus one further science subject, with an NCE accepted alongside A Level passes. This is the least prescriptive of the three routes.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNICROSS for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 140 or above in your JAMB result.
Agricultural Science Counts at O Level Only for UNICROSS Education and Chemistry
Chemistry is required at every stage, which the course title makes obvious. English Language joins it at O Level and in JAMB, and both are checked before anything else on your result.
The science options differ between the two lists. Agricultural Science counts towards the O Level credits but has no place on the JAMB form, where Mathematics takes its slot instead. Register accordingly and clear 140 in JAMB for the 2026/2027 session.
