Here’s exactly how to calculate your aggregate score for the University of Jos (UNIJOS), with a correctly worked example.
UNIJOS traces its roots to 1971 as a campus of the University of Ibadan, before becoming a separate institution in 1975 under General Murtala Mohammed’s government, with Professor Gilbert Onuaguluchi as its first Vice-Chancellor.
What Is Aggregate Score?
Your aggregate score is the combined figure UNIJOS uses to rank candidates and determine the cut-off point for each programme. Cut-off points differ by course because they’re set according to how all the candidates who applied for that course performed.
How to Calculate UNIJOS Aggregate Score
UNIJOS’s Post-UTME consists of 60 questions drawn from your JAMB subject combination, scored out of 100. The most consistently used formula is a 50:50 split with your JAMB score:
- Divide your JAMB score by 8.
- Divide your Post-UTME score by 2.
- Add the two results together to get your aggregate score.
You’ll also find a version floating around that adds O’Level grades as a third component (roughly 50% JAMB, 30% Post-UTME, 20% O’Level). UNIJOS hasn’t published a single detailed breakdown we could independently confirm, so treat the simpler 50:50 JAMB/Post-UTME method above as the most widely used working formula.
Say a candidate scored 240 in JAMB and 60 in UNIJOS’s Post-UTME:
240 ÷ 8 = 30
60 ÷ 2 = 30
30 + 30 = 60
That candidate’s aggregate score would be 60 out of a possible 100.
