Here’s exactly how to calculate your aggregate score for the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), with a correctly worked example.
What Is Post-UTME Score?
After every UTME exercise, JAMB sets a national benchmark score candidates must meet to be eligible for a school’s Post-UTME. UNIUYO then fixes its own cut-off, generally around 140, which can’t fall below JAMB’s benchmark. Candidates must also choose UNIUYO as their first choice, be at least 16 years old, and hold five relevant O’Level credits including English Language and Mathematics.
How to Calculate UNIUYO Aggregate Score
UNIUYO’s JAMB examination is marked out of 400, while its Post-UTME screening is marked out of 100. The formula is a 50:50 split between the two:
- Divide your JAMB score by 8.
- Divide your Post-UTME score by 2.
- Add the two results together to get your aggregate score.
Say a candidate scored 240 in JAMB and 80 in UNIUYO’s Post-UTME:
240 ÷ 8 = 30
80 ÷ 2 = 40
30 + 40 = 70
That candidate’s aggregate score would be 70 out of a possible 100. Worth knowing: UNIUYO’s own admission board weighs Post-UTME equally with JAMB, so a strong Post-UTME performance can meaningfully lift your aggregate even if your JAMB score wasn’t your strongest showing.

UNIUYO Admission Screening Process
UNIUYO runs its screening in two stages, usually within a week or so of each announcement. The pre-screening exercise checks only your SSCE result and JAMB registration printout, so arrive early and know your venue.
The second phase happens after the admission list is released, where candidates who’ve made the list are invited for document verification, typically requiring:
- Original WAEC/NECO certificate or Statement of Result (results still awaited are not accepted)
- Birth certificate or age declaration
- Certificate of Local Government of Origin
- Admission status slip
- A letter of recommendation from a notable member of society
