This is to inform the general public and all Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) aspirants that the Department of Education & Chemistry admission requirements have been published.
The requirements cover the O Level credits, the four JAMB papers and the minimum UTME score. Chemistry is compulsory on both lists and the electives are drawn from the same small pool.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education & Chemistry include Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
- English Language, while the elective subjects are Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science, and Health Science.
Chemistry, Mathematics and English Language are the compulsory credits, with the remaining two places filled from Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science and Health Science.
Health Science on that list is worth noting, since it rarely counts towards a chemistry based programme.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Chemistry and pick any two subjects from below:
- Biology
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Health Science
- Agricultural Science
The JAMB combination uses the same pool with one addition. English Language and Chemistry are fixed, and two papers come from Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Health Science and Agricultural Science.
Mathematics moves from a compulsory credit to one option among five, so it can be left off the form but not off your result.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into YABATECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 150 or above in your JAMB result.

Health Science Counts Towards YABATECH Education and Chemistry
Chemistry and English Language are compulsory on both lists, and Mathematics is a required credit even though the JAMB form treats it as optional.
The elective pool is unusually accommodating, accepting Health Science and Agricultural Science alongside Physics and Biology. Check your result against the credit list, then make sure your score reaches 150 for the 2026/2027 session.
