This is to inform the general public and all Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) aspirants that the Department of Food Technology admission requirements has been published.
The requirements cover the O Level credits, the four JAMB papers and the minimum UTME score. A clause at the end of the credit list adds two subjects the opening lines do not name.

O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Food Technology include Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- Mathematics,
- Chemistry
- Biology/Agricultural
- Science/Health Science and any one subject from below:
- Physics, Technical Drawing
- Economics/Commerce
- English Language
- Additional/Further Mathematics
- Home Economics
- Food and Nutrition
- Geography plus at least credit passes in Physics and English Language
Mathematics, Chemistry and a biological subject open the list, with one more from the group below. The closing clause then adds credit passes in Physics and English Language.
Taken together that leaves almost no room, since five named or effectively named subjects fill the five places.
Biology, Agricultural Science and Health Science are treated as interchangeable, which is the one piece of genuine flexibility in the list.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Biology/Agricultural Science and any two of the following:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
- Economics
The JAMB combination is looser. English Language is compulsory, a biological subject takes the third place, and two papers come from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into YABATECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 150 or above in your JAMB result.

The Physics Clause at the End of the YABATECH Food Technology List
Mathematics, Chemistry, a biological subject, Physics and English Language are all required once the closing clause is counted, which leaves the credit list effectively full.
In JAMB the combination opens up, allowing Economics as one of the two supporting papers. Check the credits carefully, then make sure your score reaches 150 for the 2026/2027 session.
