This is to inform the general public and all Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) aspirants that the Department of Polymer Technology admission requirements has been published.
The requirements cover the O Level credits, the four JAMB papers and the minimum UTME score. A closing clause makes Biology compulsory even though the JAMB form never asks for it.

O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Polymer Technology include Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry and two other subjects from the following:
- Economics
- Technical Drawing/Art
- Further Mathematics
- Biology/Agricultural Science
- English Language
- Metal Work
- Woodwork
- At least credit passes in English Language and Biology are compulsory.
Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are named at the top, with two more from the group below. The closing clause then adds English Language and Biology as compulsory credits.
That accounts for all five places, which means the optional list of Economics, Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Metal Work and Woodwork has little room left to fill.
Biology is the surprise on a polymer programme, and it is stated only at the foot of the list rather than among the named subjects.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Mathematics
The JAMB papers are fixed at English Language, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics, with no substitution offered and no mention of Biology.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into YABATECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 150 or above in your JAMB result.

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are the obvious requirements, fixed as credits and as JAMB papers alongside English Language.
Biology is the one to check, since the closing clause makes it a compulsory credit while the JAMB form never mentions it. Confirm it on your result, then make sure your score reaches 150 for the 2026/2027 session.
