This is to inform the general public and all prospective students of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) that the Department of Education & Geography Admission requirements has been published.

The requirements cover the O Level credits, a UNIABUJA waiver, the four JAMB papers, the Direct Entry conditions and the minimum score. The waiver changes the standing of English Language.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education & Geography include the following:
- Five (5) SSCE credit passes to include Geography, English Language, and Mathematics.
Three credits are named and two are left open. Geography, English Language and Mathematics are the subjects to secure first.
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
- UNIABUJA accepts ‘O’ Level passes in the English Language.
The waiver lowers the bar for one subject. An ordinary pass in English Language is accepted rather than a credit, which frees a place among the five.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Geography plus two (2) other Social Sciences/Arts subjects
On the JAMB form Geography joins the compulsory English Language, and the other two papers must come from the Social Sciences or the Arts.

Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Geography if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes/NCE merit should include Geography /Physics.
Direct Entry introduces Physics as an alternative to Geography, which appears nowhere else in the post. An NCE at merit is accepted on the same terms as A Level passes.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIABUJA for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result.

The English Language Waiver at UNIABUJA Education and Geography
Geography is required at every stage, with English Language and Mathematics named among the credits. Those three decide most of the application.
The waiver is the detail to act on, since UNIABUJA accepts an ordinary pass in English Language rather than a credit. Keep your JAMB papers inside the Arts and Social Sciences and clear 180 for the 2026/2027 session.
