How many of those further subjects you need depends on your sittings. Two if your results come from one exam, three if they come from two, since the total rises from five to six.

Both cut-off marks sit at 200, one in JAMB and one in the UI screening exercise, and each is earned separately.

The admission requirements consist of O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.

UI Department Of Economics Admission Requirements

O’level Subject Combinations

Candidates who wish to study Economics at the University Of Ibadan (UI) must possess Five ‘O’ level subjects at one sitting or 6 ‘O’ level subjects in 2 sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any two / three of Arts, Social Sciences or Science subjects.

The two and three figures correspond to the two sitting patterns. Candidates resitting a paper therefore need one more subject than those whose results come from a single exam.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

Candidates will write the following subjects in JAMB.

English Language, Economics, Mathematics, Government, History, Geography, Lit-In-English, CRK/IRK.

Eight subjects are listed here while JAMB registration takes four papers, and the department does not say which are optional. Confirm the exact combination against the current JAMB brochure before you register.

UI JAMB Cut-Off Mark

Generally, For any candidate to be admitted into the University Of Ibadan (UI) for any course, the candidate must score 200 and above in jamb. That is to say that the University Of Ibadan (UI) JAMB Cut-Off mark is 200

This applies to every course at the university. Economics is among the more competitive choices, so treat 200 as the point of entry into the process rather than a sufficient score.

UI Department Of Economics Departmental Cut-Off Mark

The UI Department of Economics Departmental Cut Off Mark is 200. That is to say that, Candidates who seek admission to the University Of Ibadan (UI) Department of Economics must score 200 and above in the school UTME Screening exercise.

The screening exercise is conducted by UI after JAMB. Reaching 200 there is a separate task, and it is the stage at which the department makes its decisions.

The Subject Spread Behind UI Economics Admission

Start with the three fixed O’level credits, English Language, Mathematics and Economics, then count how many further subjects your sitting pattern requires.

The UTME combination is the one point that needs verifying, since four papers are required but eight subjects are listed. Settle that with JAMB or UI before registration.

After that, prepare for both marks of 200, and check the current figures with the university, which reviews them between admission cycles.
