The Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) has published the entry requirements for its Department of Education and Biology, covering the O’Level subject combination, the JAMB UTME subject combination and the Direct Entry route into the programme.

Biology is the one subject that appears in all three routes. It is a named O’Level credit, a compulsory UTME subject alongside Use of English, and the first of the two subjects a Direct Entry candidate must present at NCE or A Level.
The sections below set out each route in the department’s own wording, along with the JAMB score FUTMINNA expects before a candidate can be invited for screening in the 2026/2027 admission session.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education & Biology include Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- Five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and one (1) other subject.
Four of the five credits are named for you, so only the fifth is open. That means English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics all have to be credits in their own right, with no room to swap one of them out.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Biology and two (2) other subjects from Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.
The UTME list is looser than the O’Level list. Physics enters as an option here even though it is not a named O’Level credit, and a candidate may leave out either Chemistry or Mathematics, since only two of those three are needed.
Direct Entry Requirement
You need to fulfill these conditions to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Biology if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- NCE/’A’ Level passes in Biology and one (1) other Science subject.

Biology Is the Constant in Every FUTMINNA Education and Biology Route
Whichever route you take, Biology is not optional. UTME candidates need it as a named O’Level credit and as a UTME subject, and Direct Entry candidates need it at NCE or A Level with one further science subject beside it.
Plan around the four fixed O’Level credits first, because they are the hardest part to repair late. Then make sure your JAMB score reaches 180, which is the floor FUTMINNA applies before a candidate is called for screening.
