Architecture is offered at the University Of Nigeria (UNN), Nsukka. This page covers the O’Level subject list, the UTME subject combination, the Direct Entry routes for A Level and diploma holders, and the JAMB score required.
Physics and Mathematics are the two constants. Both appear in the O’Level list and both are sat in UTME, which reflects the structural and technical side of the course rather than the design side.
The O’Level list is long because it accepts a wide range of building trade and design subjects, from Bricklaying and Joinery through to Graphics Design and Ceramics.

The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.

Direct Entry Requirement
You need the following to gain Direct Entry admission to study Architecture if you don’t intend to use UTME
- Two ‘A’ level passes chosen from Mathematics or Physics and Chemistry, Geography or Fine Arts.
- ND/HND upper credits in relevant field.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNN for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a minimum score of 200 or above in your JAMB result.
Trade Subjects and the UNN Architecture Requirement
The O’Level list rewards candidates from technical colleges. Introduction to Building Construction, Bricklaying and Block Laying, Concreting and finishing work, Joinery, Carpentry, Decorative Painting, Ceramics and Graphics Design all appear alongside the academic subjects.
The UTME combination is far shorter. English Language is compulsory, Physics and Mathematics are required, and the remaining subject comes from Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology or Economics.
Direct Entry runs through two A Level passes drawn from Mathematics or Physics plus Chemistry, Geography or Fine Arts, or through an ND or HND at upper credit in a relevant field. UTME candidates need 200 in JAMB.
