Fisheries and Aquaculture is taught in the Faculty of Agriculture at Adamawa State University. Biology sits at the centre of the requirements, with Agricultural Science accepted alongside it in two of the three routes.
The UTME combination is the one place Agricultural Science is not recognised. Biology is named there outright, which is worth checking before registration.

WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Fisheries and Aquaculture is Five (5) SSCE credits in Mathematics, Chemistry, English Language, Physics, Biology, or Agricultural Science.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Fisheries and Aquaculture under the Faculty of Agriculture at ADSU include;
Biology and two (2) other subjects from Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Fisheries and Aquaculture if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes, including Biology/Agricultural Science and one (1) another Science subject.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into ADSU for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Agricultural Science Is Not Accepted at JAMB for ADSU Fisheries and Aquaculture
The O’Level requirement is five SSCE credits in Mathematics, Chemistry, English Language, Physics, and Biology or Agricultural Science. The final pair is the only choice at that stage.
The UTME combination names Biology and then two of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, with English Language compulsory. Agricultural Science does not appear.
That matters for candidates from agricultural secondary schools. The O’Level line accepts their subject, but the JAMB registration does not.
Direct Entry restores the alternative, asking for two ‘A’ Level or NCE passes including Biology or Agricultural Science and one other science subject.
A JAMB score of 180 and above is the screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session at ADSU and applies whichever route a candidate uses.
