Economics is taught under the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences at Federal University, Lokoja (FULOKOJA). Economics and Mathematics are fixed at every stage, and the third subject is chosen from a named list.
The UTME and Direct Entry lists are quite different from each other. One is drawn from the arts and social sciences, the other reaches into the sciences and commercial subjects.
Confirm that Economics appears on the current FULOKOJA course list and that your JAMB registration records it correctly before you sit the examination. A course entered in error cannot be assessed against these conditions.

WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Economics is Five (5) SSCE credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two of the Arts or Social Science subjects.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Economics at FULOKOJA include Economics, Mathematics, and any in Government, History, Geography, Lit-in-English, French, or CRK/IRK.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Economics if you do not intend to use UTME.
You require two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Economics and any in Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agric Science, Accounting, Business Management, History, or Government.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FULOKOJA for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Two Different Third Subject Lists at FULOKOJA Economics
The O’Level requirement is five SSCE credits in English Language, Mathematics and Economics, plus any two Arts or Social Science subjects. Three papers are named and two are the candidate’s choice.
The UTME combination fixes Economics and Mathematics beside the compulsory English Language, with the third subject drawn from Government, History, Geography, Literature in English, French, and CRK or IRK.
Direct Entry keeps Economics but changes the companion list entirely. Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agric Science, Accounting, Business Management, History and Government are all accepted.
Four of those are sciences and two are commercial subjects, none of which appear in the UTME list. A candidate from a science background is better served by Direct Entry here.
A JAMB score of 180 and above is the screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session at FULOKOJA and applies whichever route is taken.
