Architecture at the Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) sets four fixed O’Level credits and then offers one of the longest fifth-subject lists of any department on this site, running from Fine Art to Bricklaying and Ceramics.
That breadth is deliberate. Candidates arriving from a technical or vocational background can count a building or finishing trade towards the fifth credit, while candidates from a science stream can use Biology, Economics or Further Mathematics instead.
The JAMB combination narrows things again, and there is a separate Direct Entry route for A’Level and ND or HND holders. Both are set out below, along with the UTME score FUTMINNA works with for the 2026/2027 session.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Architecture include Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry and any one subject from below:
- Fine Art
- Geography or Wood Work
- Biology
- Economics
- Technical Drawing
- Further. Mathematics
- Introduction to Building Construction
- Bricklaying/Block laying
- Concreting
- Wall, Floors, and Ceiling Finishing
- Joinery
- Carpentary
- Decorative Painting
- Lining, Sign, and Design
- Wall Hanging
- Color Mixing/Matching and Glazing
- Ceramics
- Graphics Design
- Graphic Printing
- Basic Electricity
English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are the four that never change. Only one subject is taken from the list beneath them, so holding several of those trade or art subjects gives no additional advantage.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Physics
- Mathematics, and any of Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology, and Economics.
English Language and Physics are compulsory in the UTME. The third line pairs Mathematics with one subject chosen from Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology or Economics, which is a much shorter menu than the O’Level one.

Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Architecture if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2) ‘A’ level passes chosen from Mathematics or Physics and Chemistry, Geography or Fine Arts.
- ND/HND upper credits in relevant field.
These are two alternatives rather than two conditions. A candidate may present the A’Level passes, or an ND or HND graded at upper credit in a relevant field, and either qualifies them for Direct Entry consideration.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into FUTMINNA for the 2026/2027 session should know that you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result to be eligible for the screening.
Read that as an eligibility bar. Scoring 180 lets you sit the screening, and the places are decided from the results of that exercise.

A Craft Subject Can Carry the Fifth Credit at FUTMINNA Architecture
The fifth-credit list is what distinguishes this department. Joinery, Concreting, Graphics Design and Basic Electricity all appear beside Fine Art and Technical Drawing, so a trade-school result is a genuine route into FUTMINNA Architecture rather than a fallback.
What stays rigid is the core. English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at credit level, English Language and Physics again in the UTME, and 180 in JAMB to reach the screening.
