This article is designed to help students who wish to study Accountancy / Finance / Accounting under the Faculty of Social & Management Sciences at Kaduna State University.

It is very important for all candidates who wish to apply for any of the courses offered in KASU to carefully confirm and see if the course they Selected is offered in the institution before registering for JAMB.
Economics is the subject that runs through every route into this department. It is named among the Ordinary Level credits, in the JAMB combination, and in the direct entry condition.
The Kaduna State University was established under the Kaduna State Law Number 3 promulgated on 21st May 2004. The promulgation resulted from the obvious and felt need to boost higher education in the State and the country in general.
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Accountancy / Finance / Accounting;
You require; Five SSCE credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and two other relevant subjects.
Three of the five credits are named and the last two are described only as relevant, which leaves the department some discretion over what it accepts.

In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Accountancy / Finance / Accounting under the Faculty of Social & Management Sciences in the above Universities include;
Mathematics, Economics, and any other Social Science subject.
That gives four papers in total, with English Language compulsory and only the fourth left to the candidate, who must choose a Social Science subject.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Accountancy / Finance / Accounting if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require; Two ‘A’ level passes, including Economics.
Only Economics is named on that route. The second Advanced Level pass is not restricted, which makes direct entry comparatively open here.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into KASU for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a minimum score of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
The 180 opens the screening exercise rather than securing a place. Candidates below it are not carried into that stage.
Economics Decides a KASU Accountancy Application
A candidate without Economics has no way into this department, since the subject appears in the credit list, the JAMB combination and the direct entry condition alike.
Mathematics matters almost as much, being required both among the credits and as a JAMB paper, which suits applicants from a commercial background.
Because the Ordinary Level requirement describes two credits only as relevant, ask the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences which subjects it counts before you apply.
