This article is designed to help students who wish to study Education and Mathematics in the faculty of Education at Lagos State University.
Confirm that Education and Mathematics is still listed at LASU before you register for JAMB. Two waivers sit in this post and they do not say quite the same thing.
Lagos State University, also known as LASU, was established in 1983 by the enabling Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, for the advancement of learning and establishment of academic excellence.
The university caters to a population of over 35,000 students enrolled full-time. The university also offers courses at Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate levels. Lagos State University is located in Ojo, a town in Lagos State, Nigeria.
LASU is the only state university in the former British colony. Lagos State University offers diploma, degree, and postgraduate programs, including an MBA program.
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Mathematics; You require;
Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics plus one (1) another Science subject.
The general line is short, naming English Language and Mathematics with one further science subject and leaving two credits open.
Special Consideration (Waiver) Remarks
- LASU requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in Physics and any other Science subject.
- LASU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and Physics plus three (3) in Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Physics, and Economics.
Both waivers add Physics, which the general line does not require. The first asks for Physics plus another science subject.
The second names English Language, Mathematics and Physics and then asks for three more from a five subject list, which adds up to more than the five credits stated. Confirm the exact count with the university before applying.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Education and Mathematics under the Faculty of Education at LASU include;
Mathematics and any two (2) of the following Science subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
The JAMB combination is clear by comparison. Mathematics is fixed beside the compulsory English Language, and two papers come from Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Direct Entry Requirement
No Direct Entry conditions are set out for this department in the published requirements, so candidates holding A Level passes or an NCE should confirm the terms with the university before applying.
