Education and Mathematics is run by the Faculty of Education at Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola. The degree trains Mathematics teachers, and the entry conditions assume a full science background rather than a purely mathematical one.
Mathematics and Physics are the pair that carry the application. They appear together in the O’Level credits, in the UTME combination and again as the only two subjects accepted at Direct Entry.
Confirm that Education and Mathematics appears on the current MAUTECH course list and that your JAMB registration names it correctly. A course entered in error cannot be assessed against the conditions below.

WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Mathematics is Five (5) SSCE credits in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Education and Mathematics under the Faculty of Education at MAUTECH include;
Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Mathematics if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Mathematics and Physics.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into MAUTECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Mathematics and Physics Together at MAUTECH Education and Mathematics
The O’Level requirement names all five credits: Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Nothing is left open at this stage, so a full science set is needed before anything else applies.
Biology is required at O’Level and nowhere else. It does not appear in the UTME combination or in the Direct Entry list, which makes it easy to overlook when planning subject choices.
The UTME combination keeps English Language compulsory and fixes Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. No alternative subject is offered for any of the three.
Direct Entry is the narrowest route. Two ‘A’ Level or NCE passes are required in Mathematics and Physics specifically, with Chemistry dropping away at that level.
A JAMB score of 180 and above is the screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session at MAUTECH.
