Admission Requirements for Operations Research
WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Operations Research is Five (5) SSCE credits in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and any science subject.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Operations Research under the Faculty of Sciences at MAUTECH include;
Mathematics and any other two (2) either Science or Social Science subjects.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Operations Research if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ Level/NCE passes in Mathematics, and any one (1) in Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Economics, or Geography.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into MAUTECH for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Social Science Papers Accepted at MAUTECH Operations Research
The UTME combination here is unusually open for a science faculty course. Mathematics is fixed, and the other two papers can be either science or social science subjects.
Direct Entry makes the same point in more detail, naming Statistics, Economics and Geography alongside Physics and Chemistry as acceptable second subjects behind Mathematics.
The O’level line is the strict part, requiring Mathematics, English Language, Physics and Chemistry with any science subject as the fifth credit.
So a commercial candidate can build a valid JAMB combination but still needs Physics and Chemistry credits. The score needed is a minimum of 180 and above in JAMB for the 2026/2027 session.
