Confirm that Geography is still listed at the Nigeria Defence Academy before you register for JAMB. The course sits in the Social Sciences at O Level and UTME, yet the Direct Entry list reaches into the sciences in a way the earlier stages never do.
The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna is one of the first of two Military Universities in Nigeria. Nigerian Army University, established in 2018 in Biu, Borno State, is the other military university that does not offer military training.

O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Geography; You require;
Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Geography, and any three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects with at least a pass in Mathematics.
Mathematics is treated separately here. It is required only at ordinary pass level, so it does not occupy one of the five credit places and is checked as an additional condition.
The five credits themselves come from English Language, Geography and three further subjects taken from the Arts or Social Sciences.
Jamb Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Geography under the Faculty of Social & Management Sciences at NDA include;
Geography and two (2) other Arts or Social Science subjects
The UTME combination follows the same shape in miniature. English Language is compulsory, Geography is fixed, and the last two papers stay within the Arts and Social Sciences.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Geography if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
Two ‘A’ level passes in Geography and any one of Economics, Government, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.
This is where the course widens. Geography remains compulsory, but the second A Level pass may be a science subject, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics all named alongside Economics and Government.
A science student holding Geography and Physics therefore qualifies at Direct Entry even though the UTME route would have required two Arts or Social Science papers.
Jamb Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into NDA for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result.
Where NDA Geography Lets Science Subjects In
Geography and English Language anchor every stage of this application. Beyond them the O Level and UTME lists both stay inside the Arts and Social Sciences, with Mathematics required only at pass level.
Direct Entry is the exception, since it accepts Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics as the second A Level pass. Choose the route that matches your subjects and make sure your JAMB score reaches 180 for the 2026/2027 session.
