The requirements cover the O Level credits, the four papers registered in JAMB, the Direct Entry conditions and the minimum UTME score. One pairing, Islamic Studies or Arabic, recurs at every single stage.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Private and Islamic Law include the following;
Five ‘O’ level credit passes in Arts or Social Sciences to include English Language and Islamic Studies or Arabic.
All five credits must sit inside the Arts or Social Sciences, which rules out a result sheet built mainly on science subjects even if the grades are strong.
Within that group, English Language is compulsory and one place goes to either Islamic Studies or Arabic. The remaining three are left to the candidate.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB.
- English Language
- Any three Arts or Social Science subjects including Arabic or Islamic Studies.
The JAMB combination mirrors the O Level rule rather than naming specific papers. English Language is compulsory and the other three must come from the Arts or Social Sciences, with Arabic or Islamic Studies among them.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Private & Islamic Law if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require; Two ‘A’ level passes to include Islamic Studies or Arabic.
Direct Entry keeps the same anchor. One of the two A Level passes must be Islamic Studies or Arabic, while the second carries no stated restriction on this list.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIMAID for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have a minimum of 160 or above score in your JAMB result.

The Subject Pair Every UNIMAID Private and Islamic Law Route Requires
Islamic Studies or Arabic appears in the O Level credits, in the JAMB combination and in the A Level passes accepted at Direct Entry. Without one of the two, none of the three routes is open.
The second constraint is the Arts and Social Sciences restriction, which applies to all five O Level credits and to the three non English JAMB papers. Check both, then confirm your JAMB score reaches the 160 minimum for the 2026/2027 session.
