The management of Niger Delta University (NDU) had attempted to raise school fees and charges for the 2026/2027 Academic Session, but the Bayelsa State Government ordered the increase suspended after student concerns, and the university confirmed it was reversing the upward review.
In practice, this means the fee structure from the last session still applies for now.
Newly admitted and returning students are advised to pay all required fees before the deadline the school sets for the session.
NDU School Fees and Registration Deadline
Paying after the deadline is not considered valid, and late payers may have to go through extra filing processes to sort their records out. The penalty for defaulting is a loss of studentship for the 2026/2027 Academic Session, and a lost session counts toward the total duration allowed for your programme.
A student with a genuine reason to apply for Temporary Withdrawal from studies for the session must follow the due process before the end of the first semester.

How Much Is NDU School Fees?
With the fee hike reversed, the NDU school fees schedule for freshers going into 2026/2027 is the same one that applied before the attempted review, split between Bayelsa indigenes and non-indigenes:
| FACULTY | Indigenes | Non-Indigenes |
| Basic Medical Sciences, Pharmacy, and Nursing | ₦150,000 | ₦200,000 |
| Law | ₦130,000 | ₦180,000 |
| Engineering | ₦120,000 | ₦170,000 |
| Management Science, Social Sciences, Arts, Agricultural Science, Education, and Science | ₦110,000 | ₦160,000 |
Returning students pay a reduced rate, which recent reports put at roughly ₦50,000-₦70,000 for indigenes and ₦80,000-₦100,000 for non-indigenes, though you should confirm your exact figure on the student portal since this suspension is a recent development and departmental invoices can lag behind the policy change.

Confirming Your NDU Fee Before the Suspension Clears Up
Because the fee hike is suspended rather than formally cancelled, your safest move is to confirm your exact faculty rate on the student portal before paying, rather than assuming the old figures will hold indefinitely.
Budget for the acceptance fee of ₦40,000 and, if you need a room, the ₦15,000 hostel charge on top of your tuition.
