Agronomy is taught in the Faculty of Agriculture at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK). Agricultural Science is accepted in place of Biology at O’Level, and the Direct Entry list is wider still.
Chemistry runs through all three routes. It is the one subject named at every stage with no alternative offered, which makes it the practical gate for this department.
Confirm that Agronomy appears on the current NSUK course list and that your JAMB registration records it correctly before you sit the examination. A course entered in error cannot be assessed against these conditions.

WAEC/NECO Subject Combination
The WAEC/NECO subject combination and requirements needed to study Agronomy are English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry and one of Physics, Geography or Economics.
JAMB Subject Combination
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course.
Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Agronomy at NSUK are Biology, Chemistry, Agric and Physics or Mathematics.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Agronomy if you do not intend to use UTME.
You require two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry/Biology/Zoology/Botany/Agricultural Science plus one in Physics/Mathematics and Geology/ Economics.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into NSUK for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored a minimum of 180 and above in your JAMB result.
Chemistry Is the Constant Across the NSUK Agronomy Routes
The O’Level requirement names English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Agricultural Science, and Chemistry, with one further subject from Physics, Geography or Economics.
Geography and Economics appearing in that final slot is unusual for an agriculture course. It gives candidates who did not complete a full science set a workable combination.
The UTME subjects are drawn from Biology, Chemistry, Agriculture and Physics or Mathematics, with English Language compulsory alongside them.
Direct Entry is the broadest route. Two ‘A’ level passes are accepted from Chemistry, Biology, Zoology, Botany and Agricultural Science, plus one in Physics or Mathematics and Geology or Economics.
A JAMB score of 180 and above is the screening threshold for the 2026/2027 session at NSUK and applies before any subject condition is assessed.
