This is to inform the general public that the University Of Ibadan (UI) management has published the admission requirements for her Department of Political Science For her admission aspirants.
The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.
Government and History are treated as alternatives to each other on both lists. A candidate needs only one of the two, which makes the requirement reachable from several school backgrounds.
The marks are level. Both the university JAMB figure and the departmental screening figure stand at 200, so Political Science does not set a raised bar above the general university standard.
UI Department Of Political Science Admission Requirements
O’level Subject Combinations
Candidates who wish to study Political Science at the University Of Ibadan (UI) must possess Five ‘O’ level subjects at one sitting or 6 ‘O’ level subjects in 2 sittings, including English Language, Government or History, and three or four other subjects.
Only two places are specified. English Language is compulsory, Government or History fills the second, and the rest of the credits may be in any subject.
The count of other subjects follows the sitting rule. Three further credits are needed in the five subject case and four in the six subject case.

The UI Department of Political Science Departmental Cut Off Mark is 200. That is to say that, Candidates who seek admission to the University Of Ibadan (UI) Department of Political Science must score 200 and above in the school UTME Screening exercise.
The two scores are equal but separately earned. One comes from JAMB and the other from the school screening exercise, so a candidate has to reach 200 twice.
Government or History Opens UI Political Science
A single credit in Government or History is the only subject specific condition at Ordinary Level, which is unusually light for a competitive department.
In JAMB the restriction tightens slightly, since the two optional papers must be Social Science or Arts subjects. Candidates should check their registration against that before sitting.
With both marks at 200, preparation for the screening exercise matters as much as the JAMB result, because neither score can make up for the other.
