This is to inform the general public and all aspiring students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) that the admission requirements for the Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering have been published.

The sections below cover the five O’Level credit passes, the four subjects sat in JAMB UTME, the A Level route into Direct Entry, and the JAMB score Benin requires for screening.
Electrical and Electronic Engineering runs on the standard engineering base of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, with English Language compulsory at every stage.
Only the fifth O’Level credit is left to the candidate, and it must still be a science subject, so there is no room for an arts credit in the set.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Electrical/Electronic Engineering include the following:
- Five SSCE credit passes to include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language, and any other Science subject.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Electrical/Electronic Engineering if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNIBEN for the 2026/2027 session should know that you must have scored 200 or above in your JAMB result to be eligible for the screening.
The Score Decides UNIBEN Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Nothing in the subject lists is unusual. Five O’Level credits covering Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language and one more science, then the same four subjects in UTME.
Direct Entry needs two A Level passes from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, which gives three workable pairings for candidates coming through that route.
What separates applicants is the screening threshold. Benin requires a minimum of 200 in JAMB, and engineering at UNIBEN is heavily subscribed, so check the departmental cut-off for the session too.
