About The University of Calabar

The University of Calabar is a federal university in Cross River State, Nigeria’s south-south region. In 1975, the university was established.

The university has a very large student and staff population and a diverse student body. All applicants to the university are accepted, regardless of their cultural or religious background. Additionally, there is no restriction on applicants’ ages.

Entry Requirements

O’Level Subject Combination

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Banking and Finance include the following: Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Economics and any two (2) other relevant subjects

Please note that the UTME requirement (O’level combination) above is the same for the courses below in the faculty of Social/Management Sciences;

  • Finance
  • Taxation
  • Office and Information Management

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB

  • English Language
  • Mathematics, one Social Science subject, and any other subject

Please note that the UTME subject combination above  is the same for the courses below in the faculty of Social/Management Sciences;

  • Finance
  • Taxation
  • Office and Information Management

Direct Entry Requirement For Banking And Finance

Below is the Direct Entry requirement for Banking and Finance in the Faculty of Social Sciences

  • Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Accounting or Economics, and one (1) other subject.
  • NCE merit in relevant subjects
  •  ND credit
  • Foundation International exams such as ICAN, ACCA, ICMA, and GPFA.

JAMB Score

For any candidate to be admitted to any Department in the University of Calabar, the Candidate must score 150 and above in JAMB.
