UNICAL Department of Business Education Admission Requirement 2024/2025

This is to inform the general public and all aspirants of the University of Calabar that the admission requirements for the Department of Business Education have been published.


The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.

Entry Requirements

O’Level Subject Combination

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Business Education include the following: Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:

  • Five (5) TC II merit, ‘O’ level or NTC/NBC credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and two (2) other subjects in the Social Sciences or Arts.
  • For NBC, the other subjects could be the following: Commerce, Office Practice, Principles of Accounts, Secretarial Duties, Typewriting, and Shorthand.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Economics and any one subject from below:
  • Literature in English
  • History
  • Government
  • Geography
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

Direct Entry Requirement For Business Education

Below is the Direct Entry  Requirement for Business Education:

  1. Two (2) ‘A’ level passes or NCE merit in two (2) relevant subjects.
  2. NCE merit in Business Education double major.

JAMB Score

For any candidate to be admitted to any Department in the University of Calabar, the Candidate must score 150 and above in JAMB.


The University of Calabar is a federal university in Cross River State, Nigeria’s south-south region. In 1975, the university was established.

The university has a very large student and staff population and a diverse student body. All applicants to the university are accepted, regardless of their cultural or religious background. Additionally, there is no restriction on applicants’ ages.
