This is to inform the general public and all University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) aspirants that the admission requirements for the Department of Agriculture have been published.
The requirements cover the O Level credits, the four JAMB papers, the Direct Entry conditions and the minimum UTME score. Chemistry is fixed at all three stages, and Biology and Agricultural Science count as one.

Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Agriculture include Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- English Language
- Biology/Agricultural Science
- Chemistry and any one of Mathematics, Physics, Geography, and Economics.
Three places are effectively fixed, with Biology and Agricultural Science treated as interchangeable. The fourth is chosen from Mathematics, Physics, Geography and Economics, and the fifth is unrestricted.
Geography and Economics on that list are worth noting, since neither is a laboratory science and both widen the course considerably.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Chemistry
- Biology/Agriculture and any one of Physics or Mathematics.
The JAMB list narrows to the sciences. Geography and Economics disappear, leaving Physics or Mathematics as the only option for the fourth paper.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Agriculture if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two (2) A-level passes in Chemistry and one from Biology/Botany/Zoology/ Agricultural Science, Economics, Physics, Geography, and Geology/Mathematics (Pure & Applied).
Direct Entry is the widest of the three. Chemistry is compulsory and the second pass may come from the biological subjects, Economics, Physics, Geography, Geology or Mathematics.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNICROSS for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 140 or above in your JAMB result.
Where Geography and Economics Fit at UNICROSS Agriculture
Chemistry is required on every route, and Biology or Agricultural Science sits beside it at O Level and in JAMB. The department treats those two as equivalent throughout.
Geography and Economics count towards the O Level credits and the Direct Entry passes but not the JAMB combination, where only Physics or Mathematics will do. Register accordingly and clear 140 for the 2026/2027 session.
