Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Agricultural Science & Education include the following:
- Five SSCE credits or equivalent in English Language, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Mathematics, and another relevant subject.
Four places are defined, with Biology and Agricultural Science treated as one. The fifth is described only as another relevant subject, which usually means a further science or a closely related paper.
The phrase or equivalent also matters, since it allows certificates other than the SSCE to count towards the five.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Any three subjects from Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture, Physics, Economics, Geography, and Mathematics.
In JAMB nothing beyond English Language is compulsory. Three papers are drawn from a seven subject list, so Chemistry can be left out entirely at registration.
Chemistry remains a required credit on your result, which is the gap most likely to catch an applicant out.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Agricultural Science and Education if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require;
- Two passes at ‘A’ level in Biology /Zoology /Botany and any other Science subject.
- NCE at merit pass level in Biology and any other Science subject.
- NCE merit pass level in Agriculture (Double Major).
Three Direct Entry routes are listed, two of which rely on the NCE. A merit in Biology plus another science qualifies, as does a merit in Agriculture as a double major.
JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted into UNICROSS for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 140 or above in your JAMB result.
Chemistry Is a Credit, Not a JAMB Paper, at UNICROSS Agricultural Science Education
Biology or Agricultural Science runs through every route into this programme, joined by English Language, Chemistry and Mathematics among the O Level credits.
The JAMB combination is the loosest part, allowing any three of seven subjects, so it will not remind you that Chemistry is compulsory on your result. Check that first, then clear 140 in JAMB for the 2026/2027 session.
