Statistics is offered at the University of Lagos (UNILAG). This page sets out the O’Level credits for UTME candidates, the JAMB subject combination, the Direct Entry route and the JAMB score.
UNILAG is a federal government research university in Lagos State, in south western Nigeria. It remains among the most competitive institutions in the country for admissions, and holds one of the largest student populations of any Nigerian university.
Mathematics is the only subject compulsory throughout. It is a named O’Level credit, a named JAMB paper, and it heads the Direct Entry requirement.
The remaining places draw on two overlapping subject pools, which makes it straightforward to build a profile that satisfies both the O’Level and UTME rules at once.

Statistics Admission Requirement
O’Level Subject Combination
Below is the O’level Requirement for STATISTICS (UTME CANDIDATES)
Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, and any three (3) subjects from Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics, and Geography.
JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION
English Language(*), Mathematics, and any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry, and Economics.
Direct Entry Requirement For Statistics
- Two (2) ‘A’ level passes to include Mathematics or Statistics. NCE credit in relevant subjects.
JAMB Score
For any candidate to be admitted to any Department in the University of Lagos, the Candidate must score 200 and above in JAMB.
One Subject Choice That Covers Both UNILAG Statistics Lists
The O’Level requirement is five SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and three subjects from Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics and Geography.
The JAMB combination asks for English Language, Mathematics, and any two of Physics, Chemistry and Economics.
Since all three UTME options also sit in the longer O’Level list, choosing Physics, Chemistry or Economics as your optional credits settles both requirements together.
Direct Entry takes two A level passes including Mathematics or Statistics, or an NCE credit in relevant subjects.
The JAMB score for any UNILAG department is 200 and above. Secure the Mathematics credit first, because no route into this department exists without it.
