This is to inform the general public and all Adeyemi College of Education (ACEONDO) aspirants that the Department of English/History admission requirements have been published.

The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.
History and Government are treated as alternatives to each other on both lists, which widens the department considerably. A candidate needs only one of the two.
Literature in English is the subject with no alternative. It is required among the Ordinary Level credits and again as a JAMB paper.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study English/History include the following: Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Literature in English
- History/Government and any one Arts subject
English Language, Mathematics and Literature in English are fixed, with History or Government making a fourth and one Arts subject completing the five.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language
- Literature in English
- History/Government and any other Arts subject
Read in full that is English Language, Literature in English, History or Government, and one further Arts subject, which gives four papers.
Mathematics is required at Ordinary Level but has no place in the JAMB registration for this department.

JAMB Score
All candidates interested in getting admitted to the Adeyemi College Of Education for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 120 or above in your JAMB result.
The score sets eligibility for the screening exercise rather than deciding admission. Candidates below it do not reach that stage.
About Adeyemi College of Education
ACEONDO, also known as Adeyemi College of Education, is a Federal College in Ondo State, Nigeria’s southwest. The Nigerian federal government manages the college.
The College was founded in 1964 and named after a Nigerian educator. It is affiliated with the prestigious OAU in Ile-Ife.

History or Government at ACEONDO English and History
The alternative between History and Government is the most useful feature of this requirement, since it lets candidates from either background apply.
Literature in English is the credit to confirm first, because the department allows no substitute for it at either stage.
Mathematics is also required at Ordinary Level, and the JAMB score itself has to reach 120 before the college will invite a candidate to screening.
