This is to inform the general public and all Adeyemi College Of Education, Ondo (ACEONDO) aspirants that the admission requirements for the Department of Guidance and Counselling have been published.
The admission requirements include O’level Subject combinations, JAMB UTME Subject combinations, and School and Departmental Cut-Off Marks.
This is the most open requirement the college sets. English Language is the only subject named outright, and Mathematics is accepted at pass level rather than credit.
The department also recognises technical and teacher training certificates, so NTC, NBC and TC II holders are all catered for alongside candidates with ordinary credits.
Entry Requirements
O’Level Subject Combination
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Guidance and Counselling Studies include the following: Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:
- Five (5) ‘O’ Level NTC/NBC credit passes or TC II merit including English Language with ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics
Mathematics is treated differently from everything else. A pass is enough there, while the five credits themselves may be in any subjects alongside English Language.
JAMB UTME Subject Combination
Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB
- English Language and any three (3) subjects
That gives four papers with only one of them fixed. Candidates may choose the remaining three freely, whatever their subject background.
Direct Entry Requirement
These are the conditions you need to fulfil to gain Direct Entry admission to study Guidance and Counselling if you don’t intend to use UTME. You require:
- ‘A’ Level passes or NCE in two (2) subjects plus the UTME requirements.
Note that the direct entry route does not replace the Ordinary Level condition. The two Advanced Level or NCE subjects are added to the UTME requirements rather than offered in their place.
