Igbo and Islamic Studies are both required at Ordinary Level and again in JAMB. The department asks for both halves of its title rather than a choice between them.

The screening threshold for this department is 180, which is higher than the figure several other ACEONDO departments publish for the same exercise.

Entry Requirements

O’Level Subject Combination

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Igbo/Islamic Studies include the following: Five (5) SSCE credit passes in the following subjects:

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Islamic Studies
  • Igbo and any Arts subject

English Language, Mathematics, Islamic Studies and Igbo are the four named credits, and the fifth may be any Arts subject.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

Candidates will write the following Four (4) Subjects in JAMB

  • Igbo
  • English Language
  • Islamic Studies and any one Arts subject

Read in full that is Igbo, English Language, Islamic Studies and one further Arts subject. Mathematics does not carry over into JAMB.

JAMB Score

All candidates interested in getting admitted to the  Adeyemi College Of Education for the 2026/2027 session should know that to be eligible for the screening, you must have scored 180 or above in your JAMB result.

That score is the threshold for the screening exercise. Candidates who reach it go forward to that stage rather than directly into the department.

About Adeyemi College of Education

Adeyemi College of Education, also known as Aceondo, is a Federal College in Ondo State, Nigeria’s southwest. The federal government of Nigeria manages the college.

The college, which is affiliated with the prestigious OAU in Ile-Ife, was founded in 1964 and named after a Nigerian educator.

The college aspires to be the reference point for teacher education in Nigeria, training students in academic and moral standards of international renown.

The 180 Screening Score at ACEONDO Igbo and Islamic Studies

Candidates need credits in both Igbo and Islamic Studies, with no alternative offered for either subject on either list.

For applicants in the south west the Igbo credit is usually the harder of the two to produce, since the language is not widely taught there.

The score to plan for is 180 rather than the lower figure some other departments at this college publish, so check it carefully before applying.
