A B.Sc. (Hons) degree in computer science is a four-year program for candidates in the UTME and a three-year program for direct entrance candidates that gives the graduate a wide scientific education in preparation for a successful career in several occupations.

The direct entry section here is wider than most, recognising IJMB, two ICT certification papers, an ND at an acceptable credit level, and A level passes. Few departments accept professional certificates in this way.
The O’level and UTME conditions are more conventional, built on English Language, Mathematics and Physics with science subjects filling the remaining places.
All aspirants should carefully read the subject combination for both O’Level and UTME to avoid mistakes.
Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)
- Credits at SSCE, GCE, NECO, or approved equivalent in at least 5 subjects, including English Language and Mathematics and any other three subjects as specified by the Faculty.
- The 5 Credits should be obtained in not more than one sitting or 6 credits in not more than two sitting.
The sitting rule is the strict part. Five credits must come from a single examination, and candidates whose results are spread across two sittings need six rather than five.
Ordinary Level Subjects
The five ordinary-level subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and two other Science subjects.
This narrows the general condition above. Three subjects are named, and the two remaining credits have to be sciences rather than any subject the Faculty happens to accept.

Direct Entry
In addition to satisfying the required five (5) O’ level credits in relevant subjects, any one of the following will be accepted:

- ND or approved equivalent in the relevant subjects at an acceptable credit level with five (5) O’level results.
- G.C.E. Advanced Level in two relevant subjects, including but not limited to Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Studies.
Any one of those four is enough, and the O’level credits are required alongside whichever you use. The ICT certification route is unusual and worth asking the department about directly.
About the Department
The department gives both theoretical and practical work in the labs and during the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme enough attention. Students work on independent projects in their specialty areas at the 400 level.
Reading the ACU Computer Science ITC Requirements
Through the UTME you need five O’level credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and two other sciences, obtained at a single sitting, plus the four UTME papers listed above.
Through direct entry you need those same O’level credits alongside one of IJMB, two ICT certification papers, an ND at an acceptable level, or two relevant A level passes.
Direct entry also shortens the degree from four years to three, which makes the ICT certification route worth investigating before you sit the UTME again.
